Learn the Comic Board Wrap Method

New to wrapping fabric on comic book boards? Follow these steps, then use the calculator above.

Folded quilting fabric wrapped on a comic book board, with red dots identifying four complete layers and a partial fifth layer along the non-selvage edge.
Example: four complete layers and part of a fifth. Count along the non-selvage edge on one side of the board.
  1. Fold your width of fabric in half, then in half again.
  2. Wrap it around the 7.5-inch dimension of a 7.5 × 10.5-inch comic book board.
  3. On one side of the board, count the fabric layers at the edge without the selvage.
  4. Include an estimate for the incomplete final layer, then enter your count above.

Tip: Count the visible layers along the non-selvage edge on one side of the board—not complete revolutions around the board.

Calibrated using quilting cotton samples. Different fabric weights, wrapping tension, and board dimensions may affect accuracy.
